CONTEST RULES

  • Prizes will be given to first, second, third and people’s choice as determined by official judges.
  • All Chili must be prepared and cooked offsite.
  • Participants must supply their own utensils, ice coolers, electric crock pots, electric burners etc. (NO open flames will be allowed)
  • Participants must prepare all foods in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • All food - whether stored, resting or cooking - must always be maintained at food-safe temperatures. All food handling, preparation and serving must comply with all local and state guidelines, policies and rules.
  • Participants are responsible for appliance safety and operation. Electricity will be available onsite.
  • All Participants must bring enough Chili for Judging and Patron Sampling; about 6-12 quarts. If you bring more Chili, it must be kept warm or on ice and must always be maintained at food-safe temperatures.
  • Participants are responsible for booth/table setup and cleanup.
  • Participants will be provided with table area, sampling cups and spoons for patrons and judging samples.
  • All Chili ingredients must be printed and visible on your table for consumers.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

2:00 – 3:00: Check in & Setup

3:00 Open to the public.

Chili sampling from 3:30 to 5:30

 4:00 – 5:00: JUDGING! Volunteers will be gathering your samples for blind judging

6:00 – Chili Cook Off and Raffle winners announced

7:00 Closed

7:00 – 8:00 Cleanup

JUDGING CRITERIA

Competition Chili will be blind judged on the following five criteria:

  1. AROMA
  2. CONSISTENCY
  3. COLOR
  4. TASTE
  5. AFTERTASTE

CANCELLATION POLICY

All entry fees are non-refundable. In the event the Chili Cook Off is cancelled, TWRC will not refund entry fees. Your entry fee will be considered a charitable donation.

MEDIA CONSENT

By filling out the registration form, the participant gives consent that the ORGANIZER, TWRC Wildlife Center, can process the data provided within the framework of the event and allow photographs to be made during the event. This includes all handling needed for the applicant’s participation at the event, advertising, promotion and for publishing event photographs in print and electronic media.
