Job Title: Volunteer Coordinator
The Volunteer Coordinator at HHS TWRC is a part-time role focused on maintaining and growing our Volunteer and Intern programs. This position is responsible for the recruitment and onboarding of volunteers and interns. The Volunteer Coordinator must maintain communication, electronic and physical files, as well as data and statistics for the volunteer and internship programs. The VC also hosts monthly interest meetings and orientation trainings as well as creating weekly volunteer announcements. This role is onsite and involves interacting with a variety of people, so a friendly face is a must!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain & update volunteer/intern contracts, forms, data, training materials, and safety guidelines as well as policy & procedure.
- Manage volunteer email accounts and maintain regular correspondence with volunteers via email and phone.
- Manage and plan volunteer appreciation events, and additional volunteer programming for social and educational purposes.
- Host monthly volunteer interest meetings for recruitment and orientations for training.
- Create and distribute volunteer newsletters and additional announcements or communications at the discretion of the Wildlife Director.
- Manage volunteer sign-up database to manage operational schedule as well as track volunteer service.
- Supervise volunteers in daily activities and work with staff to maintain consistent operations.
- Embody a consistent, positive and professional presence while facilitating relationships between volunteers, interns and staff.
- Create new ways to recruit, manage, and engage volunteers to promote program growth.
- Manage HHS TWRC internship program through recruitment, onboarding, communication, and general maintenance.
- Track and manage intern time sheets
- Attend weekly staff meetings
Qualifications:
- Fondness for working with people and a friendly demeanor
- High School Diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be able to start two weeks from the job offer
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, lift up to 30 lbs, climb a step ladder, and read small text. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these duties.

Time Commitment:
- 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM or 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- 5 days per week, including one weekend day.
- Weekend availability is required.
Compensation:
- Competitive and commensurate with experience.
Changing Office Locations:
The HHS TWRC Wildlife Center will be changing locations to a new and improved building in late summer/early fall of 2023. The new location will be 3100 W. Fuqua Street, Houston, TX 77045. All employees must be willing to work at the current location and switch to the new location after the move.
